PCC Emily Spurrell i front of the Three Graces

Merseyside's Police Commissioner will meet virtually with her PCC colleagues from around the country today.

Emily Spurrell is attending her first Annual General Meeting of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioner's (APCC), the national body which represents Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs).

The meeting will include a keynote speech from the Lord Chancellor Rt. Hon Robert Buckland QC which will be followed by Q&A. There will also be a presentation from the Home Office Permanent Secretary Matthew Rycroft.

There will also be an 'in conversation' session on race disparity and disproportionality in the criminal justice system with Rt. Hon David Lammy MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor, chaired by the West Yorkshire Deputy Mayor for Policing Alison Lowe, as well as portfolio updates on key pieces of work including policing technology, the National Air Police Service (NPAS) and local policing.

Due to the current restrictions around people's movements in light of the Coronavirus pandemic, this meeting is being held virtually, allowing PCCs to join together and discuss critical issues remotely from their areas across England and Wales.
