Jane Kennedy, Police Commissioner for Merseyside, last night (16.07.13) hosted the first meeting of her Youth Advisory group in Liverpool City Centre. The group is made up of young people from across Merseyside, from a variety of backgrounds, and will be meeting regularly to ensure that members can have an influence on police services and support for victims.

The agenda for the first meeting included;

 Identifying the expectations of the young people & issues affecting them where they live.

 Identifying the expectations of the Commissioner and her staff.

 Looking at the impact of the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan on young people.

Agreeing a safe way of working together that provides a robust environment that allows transparency regarding the work of the group whilst safeguarding the young people involved.

Commissioner Kennedy said, “The idea of this group is to make sure that I don't make decisions based on what I think young people want from the criminal justice system. I hope that these young people will identify, challenge and debate the issues that matter to them so that I and other partners have a better understanding. I am very much looking forward to working with them.”
