Commissioner to recruit young apprentice

Merseyside / October 21

Merseyside’s Police Commissioner is recruiting an apprentice.

Merseyside’s Police Commissioner is recruiting an apprentice.

Jane Kennedy is looking to take on a young person, aged between 16 and 24, who will work as part of her team and gain valuable experience within her office.

The new apprentice will be employed through the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce’s Apprenticeship Scheme which aims to tackle the growing number of young people who are unemployed with the city.

After working closely with the Commissioner on a job description and an assessment of the role, the Chamber is now advertising the post through their National Apprenticeship Scheme website and local community organisations.

The position will last at least a year and the Chamber will continue to work with the chosen candidate over the 12 months to support them in their role and help them achieve a Level 2 NVQ Certificate.

The role will include providing general administrative support, arranging meetings and undertaking office duties. The chosen apprentice will also work closely with the Chief Executive, Press Secretary and Community Engagement Team on various projects, including looking at the work of the recently-formed Youth Advisory Group.

Jane Kennedy said: “Since being appointed as Commissioner, I have been determined to work with and alongside young people across Merseyside.

“I have already formed a Youth Advisory Group and met with representatives from the Students’ Unions at all three of Liverpool’s universities and I see this appointment as another step towards listening to the needs and concerns of young people here on Merseyside.”

“It is important to have a young person’s view and opinions within my office on a day-to-day basis. In exchange, that young person will strengthen their career prospects by not only gaining some practical work experience, but also a professional qualification.”

Anyone interested in applying should contact Steven Molyneux at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on [email protected] or 0151 236 3222 ext: 2335 by close of play on Friday, 25th October.
