Covid-19: Teleconference with the Policing Minister

Community Event

Remote meeting
24th June 2020 16:00 - 17:00

Merseyside's Police Commissioner is joining colleagues from around the country to meet virtually with the Policing Minister to discuss policing issues arising from the global Coronavirus pandemic.

The regular teleconference is one in a series that Jane Kennedy and Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) from across England and Wales are having with the Minister of State for crime, policing and the fire service, Kit Malthouse MP, to raise concerns and ask questions in relation to the Covid-19 crisis.

These meetings give the Commissioners the opportunity to challenge national government about the response to the epidemic and to ask questions and provide feedback on issues which affect Merseyside Police and communities across the region.

Areas of business for discussion include sickness levels, welfare, PPE, crime stats and the number of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN's) imposed under the new legislation surrounding the enforcement of Coronavirus restrictions.

They also provide a forum to discuss enforcement and guidance, issues in relation to the criminal justice system and funding for victim services.
