Merseyside’s Police Commissioner has expressed her condolences following the death of former Merseyside MP Eddie O’Hara.
The Bootle-born Labour politician, who had been suffering from a chronic respiratory condition, passed away on Saturday, May 28th at the age of 78.
Mr O’Hara had represented Knowsley South for 20 years before retiring in 2010.
Merseyside’s Police Commissioner Jane Kennedy said: “Eddie was a dedicated and committed politician who spent two decades of life serving the people of Knowsley.
“I am sure I speak for many people in the area when I send my heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends on this sad occasion.”
Former university lecturer Mr O’Hara is survived by his second wife Margaret, his children Terry, Barry, 49, and Helen, 46, from his marriage to his first wife, Lillian, and four grandchildren.
