Liverpool is flying the Purple Flag

Merseyside / October 06

Liverpool will be flying the Purple Flag this weekend to celebrate the fact its night time economy is recognised as being well managed and safe.

The annual celebration of the Purple Flag programme, which recognises excellence in the management of the evening and night-time economy (ENTE) in the UK and Ireland, is taking place from 7-9 October.

The Purple Flag will be flying over the Town Hall, and the building, along with St George’s Hall and Cunard Building, will be lit in purple.

Merseyside’s Deputy Police Commissioner and Liverpool City Councillor Emily Spurrell said: “Liverpool has proudly been flying the Purple Flag since 2010 and had this status reaffirmed in February this year.

“The award recognises that Liverpool not only provides a vibrant and diverse mix of entertainment, but also that it is a city which has a safe and well-managed night time economy which everyone can enjoy.

“Purple Flag weekend is a great opportunity to celebrate this status and showcase what a fantastic city Liverpool is to visit.”
